I did a lot of pondering and tinkering and decided it would be most cost effective for everyone if I trimmed a day off my ever-popular 3-Day workshop intensive, AND dropped the price substantially!
Students will still learn every aspect of my technique and we’ll still have a ton of fun…BUT! We’re gonna do it in 2 (longer) days AND for a savings of $650! You’ll miss out on the goody-bag full of books, apron, kevlar gloves, and the binder with my materials and resource guide. And, the piece of art you make will be limited in size…BUT..you’ll still get a course outline that covers everything we’ll do in class so you’ll be able to go home and make cool art on your own! And, you’ll still make a gorgeous piece of original fine art that will impress everyone including yourself! You’ll still get the confidence you’ll need to go forth into the world of shattered glass and come out on top!

Here’s how it will play out:
DAY 1: 9am-6pm
DAY 2: 9am til noon.

INSTRUCTOR: Mary Hong
DESCRIPTION: An intensive class experience focused on every stage of the process of creating beautiful GlassCollage masterpieces on canvas. You’ll learn what has worked for me and what hasn’t and how I’ve improved my techniques year after year!
Students will learn every stage of the process including:
*Painting on canvas
*Composition and planning
*Choosing your glassy materials
*Which tools and glues to use when and why
* How to tame that glass! Cutting, scoring, shattering and sawing!
*Resin: The goo that holds it all together. There is SO much to learn for complete success!
THE DETAILS:
Students will be able to select from a variety of sizes of gallery wrapped canvas available at the beginning of class. Sizes range from 24 x 24, 12 x 36, 18 x 24, 16 x 40 etc. If a student wishes to use a particular canvas size, it is their responsibility to email (crackmeup@shardshop.com) the instructor at least 48 hours prior to class start date. We will do our best to accommodate everyone’s wishes!
Students will be provided with a class outline of topics to be covered at the start of class.
Lodging info will be provided to out of town students.
COST:
$850 per person includes all materials and supplies. A 50% deposit will reserve your space in class. Balance can be paid at the start of class…just come a little early!
PREREQUISITE:
It is strongly recommended that students signing up for this workshop have already created a piece of ShardART at The Shard Shop. or have experience working with glass.
OTHER:
Class registration requires a 50% deposit.
If you have not paid your deposit, then you are not registered for the class.
We cannot hold your place in a class without a deposit.

Withdrawal from class prior to 20 days before class will result in refund less $100.
Withdrawal from class within 20 days of class will result in refund less $200.
No refunds within one week of class. We have the right to cancel this class if class enrollment is low or substitute instructor if necessary. If class is cancelled due to low enrollment, all students will receive a full refund or will be offered space in the next available workshop.
DAY 1:

Presentation on painting techniques that will help you paint fantastic backgrounds!
Glues and which ones to use
10am-11am Students paint their canvases
11am-12 BREAK FOR LUNCH (bring your own or there are restaurants nearby!)
12pm-1pm
Presentation on resin….safety issues and how to have success with it every time!
1pm-4pm Studio Time: Students apply glass to their paintings
4pm-6pm We pour resin!
Day 2:
9am..We’ll meet in the gallery and explore what we’ve learned and go over any questions.
Presentation on glass, how to source it, use it safely, and where to find it!
The rest of the morning The Shard Shop is open for students to enjoy a SHARD SALE like no other! Class participants will have access to all of our specialty glass at reduced pricing!
